Escape
What's not to Love?
The Ford Escape is as versatile as you want it to be. From
driving the city streets to an adventurous off-road jaunt, the
Escape is able to accommodate these needs on as much as a whim.
It offers true four-wheel drive capabilities of a traditional
SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) with a more sedan-like feel. The
Escape offers a powerful 2.3 litre 4-cylinder engine featuring
VVT, or Variable Valve Timing, with enhanced responsiveness. It
is also economical for fuel consumption.
The IRS, or Independent Rear Suspension, gives the Escape
added stability and wheel control and grip. With the
combination of ample ground clearance and "On-Demand 4WD", the
Escape acclimates perfectly to rougher terrain. It is as though
the Escape is Ford's answer to the SUV with added comfortable,
well-designed and stylish features.
Comfort is Key
Not only is the Escape functional, but comfortable for the
driver or other passengers. It offers a spacious interior that
is roomy enough to fit five adults. Another feature is the
seats fold flat to offer more storage capacity after a shopping
trip or a holiday weekend. The luxurious interior offers all of
the comforts one would come to expect from a luxury vehicle.
Such features include high ride clearance for navigating uneven
terrain, plush seating, accessible buttons and centre console,
one-touch climate control and a six CD changer making those
long rides as peaceful and enjoyable as possible. When the
destination has been reached, the Escape will have completed
its job: making your escape a memorable and safe one.
Safe and Sound
Safety is a major priority of Ford Corporation, and the Escape
is equipped to perform under tricky conditions to keep you and
your passengers secure. It's consistent, solid performance
under any kind of terrain proves its rugged durability. The
cabin comes equipped with side intrusion beams for added
strength and airbags for the driver, front passenger, and front
side head/thorax airbags.
If a collision is impending, two major safety components of
the Ford Escape are critical. The EBD, or Electronic Brakeforce
Distribution, actually distributes braking force between the
front and rear wheels. How it is distributed is dependent upon
the driving conditions.
In conjunction with the EBD is the Emergency Brake Assist
which evaluates a driver's brake habits and then sets off full
braking more quickly than the driver. These mechanisms are
employed to avoid collisions as much as possible.
